This position supports the work of TRVCC, a nonprofit committed to inspiring healthy lives, connecting people, and sustaining our future. Under the guidance of the Director of Programs, the Programming Assistant is responsible for the organization, delivery, and assistance of TRVCC program(s) to the membership, program participants, and community. The Programming Assistant will coordinate, run, and oversee various programs and activities, including after-school clubs, adult education, adult arts and crafts programs, senior programs, and community events. These programs and activities will be for youth, adults, seniors, and families. This position will provide programming and community engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • ❑  Lead After School Clubs:
    o Plan, organize, schedule, teach, and lead after-school clubs.
    o Create and cultivate programs with distinction using an innovative and creative imagination.
    o Promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being of participants through involvement in programs.
    o Understand and use RecDesk to register, invoice participants, and take attendance.
    o Coordinate the use of facilities for program activities and events.
    o Train and mentor part-time program staff and volunteers.
    o Drive a bus to pick up and drop off participants at each TRVCC location.
    o Assist in the communication and distribution of program information.
    o Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of program delivery and results.
    o Develop and maintain collaborative relations with community organizations.
    o Maintain ongoing inventory of program equipment and arts and crafts supplies. Identifies and purchases supplies to meet program needs within the budget.
  • ❑  Lead Adult and Senior Programming:
    o Plan, organize, schedule and lead adult education and arts and crafts programs.
    o Plan, organize, schedule, and lead senior programming. This includes but is not limited to, monthly senior day trips, card/game tournaments, and a crochet club.
    o Create and cultivate programs with distinction using an innovative and creative imagination.
    o Understand and use RecDesk to register, invoice participants, and take attendance.
    o Coordinate the use of facilities for program activities and events.
    o Assist in the communication and distribution of program information.
    o Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of program delivery and results.
    o Develop and maintain collaborative relations with community organizations.
    o Maintain ongoing inventory of program equipment and arts and crafts supplies. Identifies and purchases supplies to meet program needs within the budget.
  • ❑  Lead Community Activities and Special Events:
    o Plan, organize, schedule, and lead community activities and special events. This includes but is not limited to family bingo, Easter egg hunt, after-school carnival, movie in the park, trunk or treat, daddy-daughter dance, middle school girls’ and boys’ night, Christmas in the valley, etc.
    o Oversees and directs logistics of event planning, implementation, and follow-up.
    o Coordinate the use of facilities for events.
    o Assist in the communication and distribution of event information.
    o Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of events delivery and results.

Other Functions

  • Understand the normal operations of the Center. This includes program signups, taking money, writing receipts, etc.
  • Open and close the facility if needed.
  • Proactive in keeping up with current happenings in the facilities.
  • Provide customer service to all Tongue River Valley Community Center users (e.g., ensuring signing in, answering the telephone, communicating correct TRVCC information, etc.).
  • Advocate and promote the TRVCC mission and core values.
  • Provide laundry service.
  • Monitor all users in and around work areas to prevent injuries and ensure site safety.
  • To maintain a sanitary, safe, attractive environment, perform light clean-up work around the facility.
  • Assist in setting up and taking down for events.
  • Provide program assistance to all programs when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • This position may have early morning, evening, and weekend hours that will be mandatory to work to carry out programming.

    • Custodian
    • Education:
    • High School diploma and experience in a related field.
    • College degree preferred.
    • ❑  Language Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, members, and the general public.
    • ❑  Technical Skills: Applying primary computer and mathematical skills to program development, management, and appraisal. Ability to create, design, and lead a variety of youth programming. Strong leadership skills, including planning, organizing, problem-solving, and staff training skills. Knowledge of youth development must love, respect, and enjoy children and youth.
    • ❑  Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and work through situations of varying gravity.
